Default Shocks Fading Out

Today I went riding by myself at one of my friends little home made tracks, its nothing very serious, but I was hitting the jumps pretty hard. After that I went to ride some trails that I had been down many times and the scram just wasn't taking the bumps like it usually did, it felt like it rode a little rougher, maybe it was my imigination but when you notice something like that it's usually not. Could it just have been the shocks fading a little or do scram shocks just not take good to jumps and break down really easily? I thought I could jump it as much as I wanted as long as it wasn't TOO big, as firm as the shocks were I didn't think they'd ever get soft. Can any of you guys that jump your scram relate to this or tell me what's happening here? I hope I'm just imagining it, maybe I was catching more air than I thought..

Its very possible that they were fading. Remember, you dont have the resiviour on your rear shock like the 03 and previous scram do, which means you dont have the extra cooling. If this concerns you, you can upgrade to FOX or Works struts and a FOX rear shock re-valved for your weight and riding style

I've heard that shock covers trap the heat in from around your shock and won't let it out, could this maybe be what caused them to fade because I do have shock covers. Also will they turn back to normal again? The FOX shocks sound nice but I just can't justify buying them right now after just buying the scram brand new. Thanks for the help.

I have heard the same about the shock covers. But they are worth it to me for the fact that I LOVE MUD!! You can try running it without them and see if it does it again. The porblem with the shocks fading is the oil gets really hot. After they cool down it should return to normal

They help keep the mud and most of the junk off the steel rod of the shock. Over time this debris can cause your seals to wear out from the constant up and down movement. The covers basicly extend the life of the seals
