At 47 I bought my first ATV last week, a 500 ATP . And WOW what I've been missing on all these years is so unreal. Well the question I got is do I need to pay the sales tax on this machine or let it slide. I bought it in Nebraska "$6200.00" and live in Missouri. Tax is about $470.00 This ATV Won't leave the farm. What do you guys think?

That's a toughy! If it stayed on the farm I would see no reason for the Guvmint to get any of it! On the other hand, if you decide to sell the machine down the road, title might become a sticky issue. Maybe someone in your state can speak to the issue with some knowledge of the legalities. Here in California, I was offered an Ag Tax exemption and I think it just reduced the tax to about 3.5% rather than 7.25% but I had to fill out to much paperwork and show resale info, etc. I blew it off.
BTW....welcome to the world of ATV's! I'm 42 and just bought a Sportsman 400 in January (my first) and had to have another. 2 weeks ago I brought home ANOTHER....a 500HO Sportsman.

Huh, well I guess it's strickly up to you. The law however states that you need to pay sales tax on it. In one or the other states. If the taxes are less in your state than the taxes you paid they refund you the difference, and visa versa. If you payed less than your state rate then you'd have to cough up the difference. In fact some states are now adding a line item to tax returns for items purchased out of state. They want you to start aying for all the "tax free" internet buying. you know how the Gov't is when it comes to taxes...In Indiana I will have to pay property tax on the dang thing.
