I recently bought a 2004.5 Sp 600 and a Sp 700 EFI. The EFI is amazing and the 600 is great also but is a pain in the butt to start and warm up. I have to stand next to the bike for 4-5 minutes even if the weather is not very cold. At atvsquadquad.com, I've read the posts concercing the jet needle upgrade and asked my dealer if it needs to be done on mine. He thinks it should have been done already at the factory but will send me the parts required for the upgrade.
To decide if I needed, I dug a little deeper. T
here are 2 engines for the 2004 600 model : EH059OLE021 and EH059OLE024. My owners manual says I have the more recent EH059OLE024 engine but the number on the engine reads EH059OLE021.
The replacement needle jet is # 4HB41 as per the service bulletin. My owner's manual states that I have needle jet 4HB41-3...the same as the replacement needle jet. But since my owner's manual is wrong about my engine number, should I also assume that it has the wrong, un-updated, needle jet.
As well, even though it's a 2004.5 and was purchased in Feb, the manufacture date is August 2003.
My questions to 600 owners are :
1) when did you purchase your 2004.5 and what is the manufacturer date?
2) what engine is in your quad and does it match the one in your owner's manual?
3) what needle jet # is in your owner's manual?
4) have you had the needle jet upgrade done and how did you know you needed it?
Thankds for your replies

Markie,
Once the 600 warms up, there isn't that much difference between it and the EFI. They're different sounding bikes and the EFI is more responsive when you press on the throttle.
I'm doing the jet update myself once I get the kit...it should help the warm up period. Is there some slack in the throttle cable from the factory that should be adjusted... I see some instructions in the owner's manual.
Thanks
