FLUSHING OUT THE COOLING SYSTEM???
#1
I found a little bit of grit in my coolant reservoir last night and was wondering what all I need to do to clean out the system. I've read about the modification to the reservoir cap and plan on doing that as soon as I get the system flushed. Thanks in advance for your help.

It is up to you but I would pull the radiatorand flush it extensively. I would also let the system flow with a water hose supplying clean water for a go while.
Walexa took my advise and cleaned everything and removed the pump cover to clean in there. He went to every extreme and stll had his pump go out.
I snorkeled my new bike before it ever left the garage. We will see if my water pump fails also. I am not completely convinced that they all fail because of grit.

It is very important to use ATV coolant and not automotive coolant. The type of seal in the P water pump is a mechanical seal not a soft seal as in an automobile engine and the mechanical seal does not tolerate the silica particles that are present in automotive coolant. ATV coolant is low in silica for that reason.
