Quad_Man, I hope what you are saying about Polaris droping the 400 4x4 Scrambler is not true. This is the second time I hear this coment. That's to bad because I was thinking to buy another one. I have a 98 400 Scrambler and I love it. Actually the main reason I bought it, was because, it was fast and it was 4x4. I cannot understand why is Polaris going to do that unless they are going to replace it with a bigger and better two strokes 4x4. If this is the truth I will keep mine until it falls apart and if I will be force to ride a four stroke without 4x4 then is going to be "Raptor" time for me.

There's some new wheelers being made right now; that may not be listed in the new line-up . Soon there will be a 400 SP, (1st run is green, liquid, four-stroke) the new H-O
500, (1st run is Yellow) and shortly there after, the 350 mag. will be released. The 700 SP will need some extensive testing before being released,
with all that torque and HP. Polaris wants to continue moving forward on quality, and get rid of the "un-reliability phobia."
One other item worth mentioning, if you want a 2-stroke; you better buy it THIS year. No more two-strokes next year.(2002)

Hoolio, you're right, the 400 xplorer is a great machine. There are two in our riding group (a '98 and a'00) the '98 smokes the '00! The 2000 is still under warranty, so we haven't done any tweaking on it yet.( both smoke my SP) The '98 is bone stock also, but it must have been the "pick of the litter". The owner treats it like a battering-ram, and it never whimpers. Also, I was gonna let you know "what a little birdy" told me: "no more 2-strokes,none, in 2002." If "it" changes, I'll post. ride hard Polcat

The Sp400 is being built as we speak (1st run is green). I'm not sure if it has totally replaced the 335SP yet. They're gonna use up all the 335 engines. The SP335 is under-powered (my sister has one) surely the 400SP will have some more "grunt" under the hood.
Far as the 700's go,there is some built now, but not sure about buying one of the first til I see the "bugs are worked out". Either way, give Polaris credit, they're trying to please their loyal fans new stuff. take care Pol-cat

mchamp, with all the "newer" sport-wheelers out there:400EX, Rapter, and Bomb etc. Polaris will HAVE to build a completely new designed ALL-Sport wheeler to compete. Almost everyone agrees that "it" will happen, but as it stands right now, I wouldn't wait, I'd get something else to ride for the next year or so. Ride-Hard Polcat

There was a Polaris rep at my local shop a couple of weeks ago so I asked him about the 700 twin sportsman and the a new sport quad. He, of course, wouldn't say much but I could read between the lines. When I asked about the 700 twin he said that that was rumered. When asked about a new sport quad I got about the same answer except he said it would be about ten months before anything was released....

I am like everone else...No more 2 strokes? I guess that also means no more gas weed eaters, outboard boat motors, etc...
could be cool....I want to see a four stroke weed eater...just don't want to have to carry it..
***new***
I just saw two new silver/grey Sportsman 500 at my dealer. The dealer said they were 2001 models..looked pretty cool. Just see if they can hide the scratches...

polcat
what are some of the potential problems the sp700 might have?? i would assume that polaris has tested the gearbox, clutches, and AWD system to see if it can hold up to the power.i assume if there was a problem with it them it wouldent already be built, as u have said it is.

i cant wait to get on a 700sp. be like a rocket.
