Is the 700 efi faster than a normal 700

Bill35, i never have had a 300' drag w/ anyone but considering it's a pretty short distance i'd put my few cents on the EFI winning. i think it would be close though.
like i said, i think the big beef with the EFI is not so much top speed, but 1) no need for jetting 2)no power loss high in the mountains 3)quick starting and short warm up times 4)MUCH improved fuel economy 5)smoooooth running and of course, 6)SETTING NEW STANDARDS FOR ALL OTHER UTILITIES TO FOLLOW!!
as i see it, Polaris simply refined an already-very good ATV by adding the EFI!
(i would like to see one offered in Mossy-Oak or brt. red sometime)
out-4-now!

P.S. glad to see you are enjoying your new toy polaris5610!!

After reading this post I challanged my neighbor to a 300 footer. He's a VERY aggressive rider and doesn't think twice when it comes to the throttle. His bike is a 04.5 700 EFI. Totally stock. and he weighs approx. 190#. My riding style is a bit more "passive". More "technical" if you will. My bike is stock as well with the exception of a set of ITP wheels and 27" 589's. My weight... around 180#.
Weather today was a crisp 31*f. Humidity in the 50 to 60% range. Both bikes warmed up for 10 min. with a bit of "touring" around the block. A parade lap!!
On sealcoated, level asphault. From a dead stop, 2wd High, we both floated the front tires a bit on take-off, we were dead even until the last 75 to 100 feet. Then he started to pull away...SLOWLY. He ended up "winning" the race by 1 1/2 bike lengths. We ran that same scenerio (3) times and each time it ended just about the same way. The 4th time, he "blew his light", bad reaction time, and I ended up winning that one. Did he throw the last race?..... Maybe. But it made me feel good anyway.
Take this for what it's worth.
BTW.... Who really cares which one is faster anyway? These are "utility" ATV's, NOT preds...... But I guess it is kinda nice to know....
