Ok I just drove my buddies new 400ex today. WOW that is a fast machine.....My 400L sport don't feel like that. I am guessing because my guad feels 60 lbs or better heavier. Also I think my polaris is bigger all around. Maybe it felt so torquie because it was a clutch bike? I am thinking I need a pipe, jet kit, air box kit, reeds, clutch kit. I hope I will at least be able to feel some power or torque. Maybe my quad needs a top end rebuilt. It is origonal. Nothing has been done to this thing at all. well except for a filter. Do you think I may be able to do some of this for $500-$600. At the moment I need new inner and outer clutch covers and a new belt.

MUST HAVE POWER!!! sorry about that.

Ryan

i suggest a pipe and clutch kit and all the little stuff that can be done... like you said... and btw...
a 400ex isnt a fast bike... its the slowest of the "new" 4 strokes.

Cool I hope thats all it takes. My quad and that 400 is the only 2 sport quads I have driven. That honda just seems light and nimble compared to my Sport. I just want to make sure he eats my dust when we ride together.

I am looking at Ritter's package It seems to be priced very well compared to Aaen, and hot seat. I hope it isn't a you get what you paid for kinda thing. I would rather spend the money if it is. I don't want to spend the dough and take it off because I don't like it. A good rundown of prats to look for (Brand Names) I know some people like to miss match stuff to get what they want. It all comes down to this.. I know very little on hopping up a quad. I know what I know only from reading. I have not sceen any of these mods done to a polaris, nor have I heard anyone around me doing it. I would like to hear first hand if at all possable.

A pipe ,clutch kit and a bigger carb will easily beat a 400ex. As for pipes if you wand a good all around performance pipe then HPD is the way to go. AAEN is great also. I went from HPD to AAEN just because AAEN suited my riding style better but both will give maximum performance. RCR is a good affordable kit but you have to pick where you want your power. Low,Mid,Top. HPD trail pipe is all 3 combined. Get the HPD pipe, agressive clutch kit and 38mm carb and not much will touch you. Or you can just go for it all and get the HPD race mod. 80+hp.

I wouldn't mind getting a new quad. However I like the Auto, and I also like reverse. They just need to put reverse in the Predator.
