Been having trouble getting this thing set up. I read all the posts I could concerning this issue and found that Modquad had mentioned that these carbs are able to get set up correctly if you put in a leaner cut slide(6.0) apose to the 4.0 that it came with and to go with a richer needle (55) apose to the 57-58.
Does this adjustment have any validity? Has anyone else done this with any success? and if I do get the 6.0 slide then will I need to do some machine work like the Aaen carb kit discription says that the 4.0 slide has?
If this is a better set-up why don't these "high performance" places all ready have them set up like this?
I'm not poking at modsquad, I just haven't read about anyone else doing this. Just need help.
Thanks

yes,you need some tweaking with the slides and needle to run the carb properly or it will always run lean in the low end and midrange, and most acctually blow-up your motor as i've seen many times with the 42,you can get the tuning tips from hot seat.

Ok, Here's the latest.
Went out yesterday ran for about an hour. I could feather the throttle to full throttle on a long flat surface but if I opened up quickly it would just bogg. I also noticed pinging a couple times in the mid throttle position.( lean ) . I decided to go ahead and give the folks at Aaen a call, ( thats where I got the kit from) Explained the situation and they said to set the clip in the 1st clip position and go up one jet size.
What I thought I should do is go down a jet size and go down one clip position, but then again I've been trying to get this thing set up correctly for over a year now. Can someone that really knows what they are doing give me some help here it would be greatly appreciated. I would do what the Aaen folks said but that sounds like a recipe for disaster.
I've tried to set this thing up by just checking plug in all positions and its just never worked out, plug will look good but will still give lean pinging sound once in a while when it gets hot. ( I know that is not good)

As was suggested earlier, give Jeremy and the crew at Hot Seat a call. They've matched these carbs up with performance kits for quite a while now. When in doubt, error on the side of rich, and take the time to work with it a bit. 651-982-0600.

Modquad, your the man! I finally got the nerve to call another tech line, the Hot Seat one that you recomended. It was a lot different than the others. I talked to Shannon. Jeremy was at lunch. Any way Shannon asked about the type of mods, the carb set up and basics of what the problem was. Then he described exactly how my quad was performing (really amazing). He then prescribed the medicine, a 10 pilot (2 1/2 turns out), the 6.0 slide, and the gej1255 needle in the 3 position. I was very impressed, I couldn't ask for a better tech. support. Simply amazing.
Thanks. I will hopefully get the parts in about a week, and finally put all this behind me. Like I said earlier, I've been trying to get this thing dialed in for over a year, its been very discouraging.
