I nuked my "Bubba alcohol bike"

The bike only had about 20-30 hours on it when I bought it, it was immaculate. It had some trail riding and a couple of trips to Sahara. The base gasket that was on it when Louis got it had lots of hours on it with alky. I have heard of cases breaking, but never base bolts until now. Louis, better yank that motor and send it to me or take the crank out and replace the rod. I wouldnt want to trust it after that. How many people were standing there when it happened? But also the biggest question of the day for me was............. how good was it running before that happened?

I have also blew a couple base gaskets in not very many hours. The second time it happened the jug rejected its marriage to the case. The front bosses broke and the two rear studs broke, I think that was the order anyway. Lucky the case was OK. What kind of base gaskets are you guys running? I've been using Polaris gaskets, are there some better ones?

Az Bad Boyz recommend comet base gasket due to the fact that have metal in them. It is also a good idea to retorque base gasket after initial warmup and then every couple of months, depending on how much you ride. Sorry Pennyless!

Mine also did the same thing about 2 years ago at the dunes. My boy was riding it and it was running kinda funny. So he let cool down. When he started it back up he hit the throttle three or four times to clear it out like it was running rich or something. He said it just went up like you said about 10,000 rpm. Couldn't shut it off tried everything and finally it just let go. the only thing that was still good was the hot seat head. Everything els was in alot of pieces. Still haven't figured out what actually happened. I feel your pain.

that freakin time,my scrammy was reacting the whole like this last summer,
bogging at 8000 rpm while running isn't a good roll, every time the only way to shut it off pull the choke way open and to bog the engine down,
but it is freakin when push button key is off and the key is off too, that thing can rev to the moon if the carb slide stick open and doen't have enough stiffer spring to push it down ti limit the idle.
polaris you need to make some torque arm on those quad.

Bubba,
There was about 15 people watching when it happened. One of them had a video but said he was too scared and did not think about turning it on. I had run it for three days before this happened and did not get beat. It was running the best it ever had since I got it. The last work you did to it really made it into an animal. Earlier the same day I was coming down Olds hill and was about half way across the whoops at the bottom when 2 banshees took off racing. they passed me heading up the hill. I did a u-turn and caught them at the top. Several witnesses came up to me later when I was sitting talking and said they absolutley could not believe how fast that atv was especially for a Polaris.
It had a cometic gasket in it.

Pennyless when you get that thing torn down take a real good look at the LR case corner and see if it's not cracked. Can you see the spot where the base gasket is missing or does it appear that all the base gasket is there?
