Thanks we appreciate it, give me your email address and I can shoot you a picture of the reinforcement they weld on the cases when going alky. Ced can probably send you some pics of what his broken cases looked like.

you guys might have to go to the system like the small pulling tractors use. They are really just supped up lawnmowers. Make lots of power.

They have so much compression that they couldn't keep the heads or the cyclinder walls on the base.

They make metal hold down brackets that bolts between the motor and the frame and go up the side of the motor with a peace that is made to go over the head and hold the motor down to the frame, if you know what I mean. Nothing can come up unless the frame comes to. Makes you feel safer knowing that the motor setting between your legs can't let go...lol

Bubba, your making to much power!!

Thanks Polarisfreak and Ced. I sent my email to each of you. I still am not sure I want to go back to alcohol. It really scared me thinking what could of happened if someone had been riding when this happened. I would like to think the brakes could have stopped it or slowed it enough to smoke the belt. If you were going too fast it would have been hard to reach under the bike and put it in neutral. All the shifting mechanism has been removed to reduce weight.

I know what you mean I am in the process of going to Alcohol. I'd feel better if you were able to find a reason the base gaskets are blowing, such as a cracked case or something that isn't square! You should be getting some pics in your email.

Louie, I think that I still have the original shifter assy for the bike if that would make you feel better. I can look if you want me to. Also maybe have a dead soft copper base gasket made in the correct thickness and use some sealant with it? I know we would do that with the ultra high compression 4-strokes, but not sure about the base gasket on a 2-cycle.

I looked at the crank case and it is split open just like the pics that ced sent me. What a mess. It may be time to quit talking about putting my snowmobile motor in something and just get the project started. Polarisfreak if you are interested in the carb and the pulse pump pm me an offer. Bubba I will contact you when and where services will be.

Louie, the split cases just means the bike was putting some serious power out. CED can have the cases welded up for you. I talked to Rick Ritter a little while ago and he said the rods in those motors were bullet-proof and probably the one if only thing that could have been hurt would maybe be the piston, but being new I bet it is OK. He said to just look at the bottom end, but he said it would probably be allright. If it really was running that strong then fix it and go back with it. Maybe the porting was a little too much?????????

Words can't describe how fast it was. You had to be really careful not to wheelie it over no matter what speed you were running.

Pennyless fix those cases or get new ones have the support welded on and you'll be good to go. I would imagine it started cracking and that's why your base gasket gave out before! Good luck with it!
