Well Geez! I just bought a new 04 Scrambler 500 yesterday, so I hope they don't come out with something so much better too quick!

Wouldnt really like a twin cyl. too many moving parts. My 500 Scrambler meets my needs perfectly.

I wonder how much faster a Scrambler 700 would be, and I wonder how much more in $?

I don't see why not! It still is still the top sport 4x4 in my book. I am seriously thinking of cramming a liberty PRO X 600 motor in mine. It'd be strictly sand and drag, but it would be bad azz!!!

the only thing that I dont like about the Scrambler is the 4WD

dont gimme wrong, I love 4WD, just not on an ATV like the Scrambler.

Ther is a guy on another forum that put a SP700 motor in a scrammy. It didnt handle as wel as the stock 500 scram and wasnt really any faster, but............................it had a butt load of torque!!

I am not to impressed with the SP 700 engine. i think if they ever came out with a 700 scrambler they should make it with a snowmobile engine or a V-twin engine!

yeah he said it still tops around 65 and the engine isnt even working hard at that. he did say that he flipped it over backwards because he got his tires spinnin so fast then hit the hard pack. now thats tork

There is nothing wrong with the SP700's engine. It is just in a mild state of tune, and so it makes it look like its not a powerful engine. With a higher compression piston, more aggressive cam and porting, and a bigger carb that engine would make plenty of power for a new Scrambler. One thing you have to take in account is that the 700's engine doesn't rev high at all but it makes a lot of torque. I think it only revs to 6000rpm. There are many utility engines that rev higher than that. You can't beat the sound of those twin-cylinder engines!
