Default Gas milage ?

Hey all ,what kinda of gas milage are you all getting with your sportsman 500.I filled the tank with as much gas as i could fit and i put 38 miles on it and it almost empty.Hope that there is something not right. Also what do you use to clean the air filter with? Do I clean just the pre filter and or the filter? Its the stock filter.

I agree with Polaris500HO4x4. Mine will last longer on a tank than I can ride in a day. Likely close to 75- 80 miles. But then again, mine is one of them weak old non-HO models that gets better mileage.

Is it brand new? I know my TBlazer had horrid mileage until it was all broken in.......Now it seems like it'll go for ever on a tank.....

I have a 2004 500HO (5.25 gal tank) and I get about 90 miles on a tank BEFORE I have to hit reserve. If I ride really hard then it is about 75-80

I don't know what kind of mileage my 04 SP500 is getting exactly. But try to clean the carb. with spray carb/fuel injector cleaner. I did mine last week and it seem to help it, and it starts better.

U guys must be doing alot of rideing in low range or something, the old mans
02 500ho gets between 110-130 miles to a tank of gas with 2 of us on it
(im 210 and hes 250) rideing the local dirt roads doing between 45 and
60 mph(mostly fast paced logging road rideing). The atv has a 4.25 gallon tank
the longest ride we went on was 98.8 miles and when we filled up we only burned
3 quarters of a tank.

U should deffinately get your atv checked it cant be getting that poor fuel mileage,
its not a big block v8. LOL

rsking45 if yours has a fuel gauge, then the gas tank is NOT 5.25gal, it's smaller. my EFI owner's manual says 4.35g. the Polaris website says 4.75.

i liked the old 5.25g tank on my '01 SP500. it seemed like that thing would run forever on a tank- a- gas.
