WHat was that stuff called that some of you guys use to keep your quads cool?
engine ice or something?

Today it was 80 degrees and I was doing some screwing around and it seemed like it got way to warm, when I shut it off, the fan ran forever.

Do the radiator shrouds help alot? Obviously not at low speeds when you are screwing around.

Red line water wetter is the best! I had to get something for my poorly engineered yamaha banshee,it would over heat when it was 10 degrees outside even if it only ran for 30min,, I started using water wetter problem solved,i also run it in my pred....

Also inline coolers might help.. take a look at CFM for inline coolers...

most auto parts carry the stuff, the in line cool might help, but on my ds i wired the switch so i could turn it on all the time if i want to it work pretty good much better than the shrouds and the in line cooler

the predators fan runs nonstop anyway. Just get used to it, my friend added the rath shrouds which are nice and also mount the coolant bottle behind the radiator. Not a noticeable cooling difference. And if you can work with metal you can make them your self. Theres not a whole lot you can do that will make it run less, unless you change the sensor so the temperature it shuts off is differnt. Because i ride with 3 predators and were all so used to it being loud when were just sitting there.

Water wetter works the best when mixed with distilled water but make sure when you ride in cold temperatures you run it with some antifreeze.

If you're not using it already, synthetic oil will lower temps also. Less friction and better dissipation. Plus it'll protect better is she is running hot.

i use redline water wetter in all of our bikes and atvs i bought mine at pepboys out here in vegas. it did not seem to do much in the pred but for the mag 500 the fan only kicks about 1/2 the amount of time. my nephew rides a 04 crf 450 and he said that water wetter help w/ his.

I use Engine Ice...runs up to 50 cooler, and it works great.

Water Wetter is THE best. Engine Ice helps, but don't believe the 50 degree claims. Make sure to flush your Pred at least once with clean distilled water. Bottom bolt of waterpump cover is cooling system drain. You can back out the engine temp sensor on the top LH side of the head to bleed off entrapped air as you fill the system.

With Wetter in the system, some radiator shrouds, and at least one inline cooler. You'll notice a big difference. Also helps getting your head-pipe ceramic coated by Jet-hot.

Remember, your engine and trans share the same oil, so removing as much heat as possible from the engine also keeps the trans happier.
