yeah but hozed, if everything is worn already he might as well change everything and not have to do it later....otherwise things will wear differently with new and old materials...just my opinion though...his money

a did x-ring chain is only around $40 something bucks and thats one of the best you can get.i was going through the stock sprockets and chain every other week it seemed, then i bought sunstar sprockets and a did chain, its been 5 months or so and they still look brand new, well worth the extra few bucks in my opinon..

I agree with Hozed, best and cheapest way is to just replace the front sprocket. Go from the 11 to a 12. That changes the ratio from a 3.45 to a 3.16, quite a big jump. The best way to check chain and rear sprocket is to simply look at them. The teeth on the rear (and front for that matter) will start getting a curve shape when worn, no secret here. The thing is you want to change them before they get sharp on the end. The chain needs to ride on the rear sprocket teeth squarely all the way around. When a chain gets stretched beyond limits, it will try and start riding up on the teeth because the link spacing is not right anymore. Also if the o'rings are missing and the chain has a lot of side to side slack then it needs replacing. Other than that if it all looks good then I just replace what's needed, but I do replace things before they are worn out. Hope this helps and I made some sense

well i have replaced teh front one about 3 times because of broken teeth and the chain about twice. never touched the rear sprocket. i think i will just buy two new sprockets and do 12/36
how does that sound? not much loss on bottom but still good gain on top? i will buy mid grade sprockets incase i dont like how the setup feels and eventually buy a x ring chain.
