Hey Guys,
I was just wondering what everyone keeps thier tire pressure at. Right now I have mine (Scrambler 500) at front 4psi and rear 3psi, just like the specifications. However, when I go slow over some rocks and stuff, the front tires actually get pushed in so much that it almost hits the rim. A friend of mine, who is a pretty knowledable person, told me to keep my tires hard. He said it may be a little more bouncy, but the tires will take more abuse. Will this also improve handling? I just want to get your guys opinions and suggestions. Thanks...Neil

i run mine at 6 and 7 psi..it doesnt hit the rims as you say with this pressure as it does with 3 and 4 psi.. i didnt notice the machine being that much more bouncier and i think it handles better..you can always try a few different pressures to see how it feels

The pressure depends on what kind of terrain you ride on more often - if you do a lot of rock trails, keep the pressure about 40%-50% above specifications. Less chance of a punctured tire this way. For sand it's the other way around, 10%-20% below specs, to have traction. I ride on a lot of asphalt, so I keep the pressure 1 psi above spec, not more because I ride on the sand too. It's a compromise.

Regards,

Pedro Pinheiro

8 lbs. in the front of mine. Makes a lot easier to steer with the added weight of the wench and other stuff. Lower pressures however will help to keep from getting a punture when hitting a sharp rock.

Well I worry about bending rims when I hit small stumps & larger rocks. I run between 5-6 pounds in our tires, intially it was 3 pounds. Since bumping up the tire pressure I haven't felt the rims bottom out after hitting a few things.

I run 5 pounds in the front and 4 pounds in the rear. I would like to increase the front to 6 or 7 pounds in order to steer a little better. Is this going to make them more prone to rock related puctures? We ride in the Wayne National Forest and there is a lot of rocks on the hills. Anybody have troubles with puctures after inflating the tires too much?

Thanks Guys....Next time I ride ( It has been raining for the past two days!!! But that just means more mud on the next ride!!! ) I will bump up my tire pressure to maybe 5-5.5Psi in the front and 4.5 in the rear. I'll let you know how it is....Neil
