Scrambler clutch....Adjustment or kit ?
#1
One of the mechanics at the shop told me that the stock clutch has different settings, and can be adjusted tighter. Has anyone done this ? And does it help on takeoff ? What is the best clutch kit ?
I ask this because when I go to ride the ramps into the back of my pickup, I have to back up a few feet and get a start. If I just put the tires on the ramps and try to ride up, it acts like the belt wants to slip.
I guess I should mention that I am WAY larger than the average Scrambler rider, (6'2" and close to 300lbs) and am sure that the designers didn't have this scenario in mind.
What can I do to make it easier on my bike to carry my big azz up these ramps, and climb at lower speeds. Don't tell me to stay off of it, not an option. I'm having too much fun smokin' my buddies on thier SPs.
Thanks,
Dave

The clutches are adjustable but you adjust them by changing parts springs, weights etc.. a kit will change these and other parts to achieve the desired results.
From the factory a Scrambler is not set up to pull heavy weights(no pun intended). You may want to set up your clutch to engage at a lower rpm than stock.
It could also be your riding style. With the Scrambler being sporty (no low range) the pvt works better with hard & fast engagement of the clutch. Under the conditions you give this probably would not be wise that is why I suggest a lower rpm engagement. As you`ve seen with the running start. HTH
