Default Predator 500..and what I should know

Hey guys my father and I just purchased the two four wheelers listed below. We got both for 13,385 with everything listed. My question is, what should I know about the predator? I'm not exactly new to the atv scene we once owned a 400EX and a Kodiak 400. I was just wondering if there is anything I should check over on the quad. However, more imporantly, how do you all like your quads? I love the thing more everytime I look at it. Beautiful machine, excellent designs. I absolutely love the clicker shocks on this thing! Thanks guys!

Two great machines. Just make sure to take your time breaking them in. Many close tolerance parts, which require a bit of time to work in.

Yeah, I love the predator. What are your recommended break in times? How do I keep track of hours? Whats the estimated hour time on one tank? Also, do you know where I can get some nice performance parts for this machine? Thanks.

One thing you should know: you can get a *LOT* more power out of the Predator by doing pipe, jetting and airbox mods. I am shocked at how much better my machine is now.

There are many performance parts available directly from Pure Polaris. Sometimes the dealer you purchased the quad through will work on prices for you.

The pred is a great machine, and so is the sportsman.....I would work the carb over, or send it to Doug Nicholas(he makes it run very well, and jetted correctly)...and also if you can do this with your riding conditions, drill 3 or 4 1" holes in the back of the air box....this makes a huge difference....be sure not to drill too high, so the air filter won't seal correctly.

Well, I don't wanna go drilling out holes right away, maybe later down the road I will be more comfortable. I have looked at some of the aftermarket air boxes but I am just never to comfortable with modifiying intake to much. Its a very important part, and if I do something wrong I'm totally screwed over. I'll keep it simple with exhaust and jet mods. Where can I purchase the craig sparks exhaust? Also, do you guys think handgaurds are really necessary? I do alot of trail riding if that helps. Thanks alot guys this forum is awesome!

If you're going to re-jet anyway, why not mod the airbox along with the pipe? A 60 or 70 pilot and a 170 main with the needle one rich should do it. Get the uni-vents that resist water.
