2001 Scrambler 500 4x4
I've heard that 400 Scramblers are quicker, so I was just wandering about how fast a 500 could do? Also any specs and info you guys can give me on a 2001 Scrammy 500 4x4 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot and I'm pretty sure I can trust you guys, I've had some other posts and looked at others and you all give some really good info.

I can get anywhere from 60-80 miles on a tank, depending on how Im riding. It weighs roughly 540lbs dry weight. The only major problem that I have encountered besides the usual wear and tear items and the problems that were my fault, is a bad CV joint. Not a big deal though. These are tough go anywhere machines. The perfect blend of sport and utility. Anything else you want to know?

I am waiting for a bleeder to come in for mine too, in fact I have 2 on order as one will not stop bleeding no matter how tight you make it and the other will not bleed at all, I have to open it up enough to let the air escape past the threads. I have only had mine 2 weeks but I love it, have always had atvs but they were mostly utility and this one really is a blast, quick, powerful, gets out of bad spots better than the sport racers too, plus no shifting either.

I have a 400 4x4. The 500 will be much more reliable for you. It will last much longer before you need to rebuild it also. The 500 is a bit more expesive to modify and you won't get the horsepower of the 400 with mods, but make up for most or that in torque. The 500 will of coarse be a bit more complicated than the 2 stroke when it comes to a rebuild. Better gas milage comes with the 500, or generally speaking with a 4 stroke compared to a 2. Speed of the 500 4x4 I a guessing is a bit higher on the topend than a 400, not sure. I would guess it would be around 68mph, but getting there, the 400 pulls a bit harder and quicker. The 500 will have much more power in the low end, as where a 400 needs to be clutched to engage at a higher rpm to get into its powerband. Between the two, they have there pluses and minuses, so I guess it is all up to what you will be using it for and what you want out of it...
