Hey has anyone put a low range tranny out of an exlorer 400 in a scrambler? Also will the pipe from rcr fit with two shift linkages instead of just one? Also does any body need a tranny for a 99 400 scrambler ?

Jaime,

Scambler tranny available ... tell us you're not taking parts home in your lunchbox each day ... LOL, LOL.

There is an old song about a guy building a multi-yeared Cadillac with parts he took home in his luch box.

A friend of mine has a 99 Scrambler 500 that we put the tranny out of a 99 Explorer 400 in. Putting the tranny in is a breeze it bolts right in and change a few wires around so that reverse and neutral lights work. The hardest part is the linkage. We used the shifter off of a Magnum 500 and made a bracket on the frame to hold it. Looks like it came from the factory. The shifter still comes out of the factory hole in the fender. If you have anymore questions just ask.

Jamie,
Polaris800twin was telling me that the bike is a 2000 model not a 1999 like I said in the post. The transmission is also a 2000 model. I do not know if the pipe will fit. The bike the tranny is in is four stroke. No big expansion chamber to deal with.

This mod really interests me. I would love to have the low range capability of the explorer and the weight and suspension travel of the scrambler. Does anyone (chopperbill, chicken) know where I can find a tranny out of an explorer? What would a good price be for a used tranny? 425Xpedition what other things might I want to consider when doing this swap?

Until my Scrambler got smashed up.. I was in the middle of rounding up parts to do this same swap. With 27" Tri-Claws and Bi-Claws there is NO lift required on the front, and the rear could be fixed by using the aftermarket longer swing-arm...

I may still do it, EVERYTHING bolts right into place with little to NO modifications. First I gotta put the front end back together.
