Default Pred steering dampener

I got a new HPD steering dampener today at Nicholas Cycle, and finally got my quad down there to do my brake recall. I will have the dampener on soon, if anyone wants any pics, tell me......

I think the dampener will help when racing the harescrambles that I am going to enter.

Really Ken?? I was wondering if it was going to help.....I think my next new thing will be a antivibe stem and maybe some handlebars.....Do you know anything about the dampener?? How do I set it, I mean I know how to actually do it, but how to set it to work the best??

Hey bradracer, I know this is an older thread but I was wondering how that steering dampener does. I to race in harescramble and some of the tracks are really rough. So my question is.. is it worth the money, and what exactly does it do? Thanks

I just put one (a PEP style) on my Z400, Haven't had the chance to take it out yet Brad, what setting did you put yours at? Did you notice a difference between the 2 different settings? I'm not looking to race, just trying to save the shoulder from fatigue and pain

HI guys..........I have one from HPD(don't know who actually makes it)...........but it works fairly well. I can notice the difference in settings.....it gets harder to turn as I crank it up. It will reduce the viberation in your stem, and save your hands and arms. You might also talk to Quad Junkies, she thought the hpd one was too weak, and went with another brand, like PEP or Denton.........

Thanks Brad, I have the PEP, and set it at the "firm" setting. definately made it harder to turn. Will have to take it out and do a comparison on the firm and soft setting. I'll also ask Quad Junkie how she set hers up.

Brad, sorry in the delay getting back to you. Start at a low setting, take it for a rip. Gently dial up the resistance til ya feel comfy. You'll be lovin' it!
