Nice machine Aaron, I was thinking of upgrading to the EFI, is it that much better and faster than the old 700?

 

I had the 03 700 and it was a great ATV, I couldn't see it gettin much better. But the 700 EFI is worth the cash, it is faster it pulls the hole time. Were after 55 MPH the 700 slows down the 700 EFI keeps pulling strong, top end is about the same though. It takes off faster and has a better midrange due to the EFI and the better clutch. I would give it a try and see what you think. But I love this atv, it WILL out run a Yamaha Grizzly cause i have raced one....

 

just came from my dealer and he said no 800 this year 500efi probally .700efi selling so good no need for bigger bike yet.

 

Yea but dealers are usally the last to know whats going on, they tell you that so you'll by there 04 700 efi's now.....

a lot of time there, in case you didn't read the begining of this thread. The 800 "is" coming, and this year...

 

i think polaris should worry more about putting there sportsmans on a diet, there over 100lbs hevier than the competition, they would be alot faster if they were lighter, for every 7 lbs you take off you get 1 hp, and for every pound of rotating mass is like taking off something like 10 lbs 10 pounds of weight. thats like 15 hp they are missing out on.

 

reason for polaris's being heavier, is beefier parts compared to the compitiion, you dont see cheap thin chassis parts on the sportsman, sportsman have steel braided brake lines i believe, driveshafts are larger than the compition, its so the parts last with abuse and wont crack or break bend. for the 03 models, they had GoodyearŽ Rawhide Grip tires, those weigh decently compared to the other manufacture's less aggressive tire,

 

The 700 EFI is the second fastest big bore on take off and THE fastest on topend. So really that weight isn't hurtin them to bad, plus it handels rides muds and pulls better than just about everything out there.....

 

and there is a reason why it pulls more then anything out there...its because it weighs the most which gives it more traction...and as being THE fastest on top end...idk about that, with the Brute Froce out now it probably has compatition

 

Thats true, but Kawi's big bores are not well known for topend speed. They are great on take off but are usally at the bottom of the topend list....
