Default SIlver Lake Noise question......

I was there May 25 & 26th (weekdays). There was no one at the entry gate to the dunes. The guys I was with said they had never been checked for sound, only spark arrestors. There is a shop right by the dune parking lot that sells those little sparky's that slip over your exhaust if you don't have a spark arrestor.

Default SIlver Lake Noise question......

I was there this past weekend and was checked. I measured at 97dB and was let on the dunes with a special band attached to my quad stating that I passed the dB test. The law says 94dB but they are letting it go to 98dB. If you have a loud quad, wait until the officers stop a buggy or a truck and then you can drive right in. If you go on the weekend dont forget that you need a "dune ready" voucher for Saturday and Sunday. There is a voucher area that is just up the road and they will give you instructions on how to get the proper voucher. We stayed at Val DU Lakes campground, very nice and very close to the dunes, there is a Bikini Bar on the campground too...Hot Chicks in Bikini's.....You know where we were after riding all day!

Did you see them turn anyone away for loud pipes???? What's the purpose of the band?? Is it to keep them from testing you again or what?? I am staying at Val-Du this weekend...great place to party!!

Default SIlver Lake Noise question......

yes I have. My buddy has a Quad with a Thundercat 1000cc motor in it, they turned him away. He also has a buggy with a 402ci in it that got turned away last year, but this year it didn't. I think it all depends on how busy it is. If it is busy, they get more strict. I did't see anybody get turned away the last time I went...

Default SIlver Lake Noise question......

Wouldn't you know it....I road all day Friday and 7 hours on Saturday before I was checked for db.....with a Pure Polaris WB pipe I came in at 95 db.....they allow 98db and the state law is 94..which tells me that they will try to work with the public in order to preserve the $$$ they generate from the riding fees....great time...heading back in September.....thanks again to all that replied!!!
