dont do it yourself!! if you take to much off you will wreck the engine. i heard that it will make the engine run in reverse?? send it to rick he will do it for $75. dont risk it!!

Most of the reputable shops also re-balance the flywheel.

I did mine myself. I cut mine down taking the ring gear off, and turned the body down to the smallest outside diameter, just cleaning it up where the magnets are mounted on the other side. be carefull not to get it to hot as you may melt the glue holding the mags on. Just use coolent, you will need to anyhow on cast iron(messy). Then just cleaned it up where the 45deg is on the front ouside edge is. A picture of what it would look like here! USe it to give you an idea of what it will look like. Use a common lawn mower blade balancer to balance it if you like, but many of use found it not nessesary after doing so. The ones that I have seen done by "professionals" have no extra material taken off of them, so how did they balance them? The inside diameter of the flywheel is turned concentric with the center hole, if you turn the outside diameter concentric with all else, there isn't much need to balance it as you basically just did by taking off the uneven matarial of the casting off...

I like pull start, it makes me keep on top of the maintanance. These bike start pretty easy, and at first I was not wanting to get rid of the starter, and battery. But I said screw it, and I am glad I did!!! It was well worth is!!!
