I have a 2000 Trailblazer, and the chain broke along with the small sprocket off the motor lost a tooth. Will Polaris cover this as warranty? I already bought the chain and sprocket because I thought Polaris wouldnt cover it. The atv is at the Polaris shop now. Do I have a chance, or is it too late??

You have one full year of warranty on the chain.

Ive heard and read that Polaris wont warranty the chain if they think the problem was due to not adjusting the chain properly. Anyone experienced this before, man, a broken chain and sprocket in 550 miles, drag!!

YEP, they'll fix it for one year from purchase date. Not replacement date. Save your parts for later. Ride'em Hard Polcat

The shop has already put the parts on the atv. The shop tech made it seem as if it were maybe my fault and I didnt keep the chain tension right, although I have adjusted it, once. I guess Ill ask him if he will warranty the work that was done and if they can give me a credit or $ back on the chain I purchased. Ive not had to deal with warranty stuff that much, and dont want them screwing with me, you know what I mean.

The chain was $82. and the sprocket was $23. And they charged 1 1/2 labor to do the work.

How often am I supposed to oil the chain. I've heard a lot of different suggestions on this, o-ring chain, lube, no lube, dry lube, etc.

They should replace it no trouble, They did on my Xplorer 250 and the chain wasn't broke , it was just making a noise and they had a new one on in a bit and out the door I went. How did you break the chain?

We were in a wash, and just doing the normal "tearing it up" routine, jumping what we could find, up hills, etc. My son had just jumped a small jump and was going up a small hill, and that was "all she wrote". The chain broke and I had to tow him back with a tow strap with my SP500. Glad I had the tow strap, it was almost 6 miles back.

The chain looked as if it had a stress cracks on the link that broke. I hadnt really had to adjust it that much, am I supposed to?? What about oil on the chain??

If they dont cover it under warrant I would raise nine kinds of hell. If it is a good shop I believe they will.

Most people reccomend using a product called Chain Wax on their chains. I have used it myself and I have to say that it seems like good stuff. I usually oil mine after every ride.
