Default chain braker???

I just ordered the did x-ring chain.....I need a 520-76...but the shortest I could buy was a 520-82...so I need to bust some links off to get it to the right size....Do I need a link buster or not??? I really don't want to buy one....I'm sure I could get it off some how...so if you have some tricks on ways to bust links off...Tell me some secrets!

If you don't want to use a breaker, grind the pin ends down from where you want it broken. Use a punch to knock the pins out. Make sure to measure and mark it very well. Once it's cut you can't go back.

Default chain braker???

Putting on a new chain myself. Not by choice, stupid rock. I'm going to invest in the breaker and keep it on the quad with a few extra links. I barely made it back to camp. If I had the links and breaker with me, it just would have been a 10 minute fix.

dont get a breaker
waste of money
just grind the pins to where u cant see then in the face of the plate them open a vice and set it to where to pin will drive out freely and use a punch to get it out. just make sure not to bend the chain in the process.

Not saying the grinder is a bad idea, but do take it with you when ride? I have never had a chain break while sitting at home. You can pick one up for 20 bucks. Thankfully my nephew had one when I broke my chain or I would have been watching people ride for 2 days. Broke it on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday at 5pm. No shops open by the time I made it to camp, nothing open until that Tuesday. Won't ride without one now.
