i really think it comes down to the driver

in cars, i can race my corvette and lose to a camara everytime due to reaction and shifting but everyone knows the corvette is faster

This topic makes me angry.. I have a predator and my cousin has a raptor stock for stock when we ride down the trails side by side i can pass him on top end everytime..The same thing went when we both got are exhausts. No wthat ive gotten my carb we havent ridden much together becasue he has his new 04' raptor back in the shop becasue it was really hard to start and when it would it would fall on its face and run like crap....

 

Look, my pred has never lost to a raptor... not once. I have lost to lots of other bikes , but not the raptor. The raptor has the cc's but the gearing is bad, the engine lacks the hp for that size of motor, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Yamaha really dropped the ball when they created the raptor!

 

im not sure myself nerver seen a predator in action, but i just traded a 03 kx 250 for a 04 raptor, well needless say i didnt keep it long a day and half, but from 6 or 7 hrs i ridden it it didnt impress me at all for a 660 its one weak motor all i can say, wouldnt hang at all with my kx not even topend and the kx i traded was stock, why did i trade the kx for the raptor then, well 04 raptor worth more than a 03 kx 250, hehe and guy wanted the kx so i come out real good, but from what hp numbers i seen out of the raptor my kx right there with it maybe a tad more, i know it takes in most cases twice the four storke to run with a 2 stroke, but that 660 isnt all that at all, and i know the kx wasnt a good race comparasion sence it was alot lighter but still yet the raptor should beat it on topend, or atleast i think it should,but also i have heard with a few mods on the suzuki or kawasaki 400 4 wheeler they will out run the raptor, thats sad, but oh well, i dont think yamaha did to good on the raptor, but that is my oppion. wouldnt buy another or trade.

 

Look!! First of all the kawasaki 400 will not even come close to a raptor, I know, I have beaten 2 of them with no problem. Second of all Duhhhhhhh, a 2 stroke 250 Dirtbike will always be faster than a big, heavy 4 stroke bike. You guys trip me out sometimes.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

 

ok maybe u need to learn to read, i said it wasnt a good comparasion did i not, ok another the raptor 660 oh isnt but how much more cc's 410, so it should have come close regardless, in stock form i think the raptor is weak, second i said a 400 with mods from what i have heard but from the dyno numbers off the kawasaki and suzuki and artic cat dvx 400, there not to far away from that big 660, and for second with your mods id sure hope you could out run a 400, basicly i think yamaha should made that the raptor 2 cyclinder, im just glad i didnt go buy a raptor for that retail price, now that would have been a disapointment for me, period.

 

Yes, in stock form the raptor is choked up. This is a well known fact. The other performance ATV's out now are not. Thats why you have to clear the Raptor's throat with a aftermarket pipe and a filter. It's just somethin gthat has to be done. After that it is a badazz machine.
