Oil Ratio
#2
Each gallon of fuel has 128 ounces.
So 6 gallon of fuel would have (6 x 128) or 768 ounces.
To find our fuel to oil ratio we divide 768 by 8 (the amount of oil in ounces) and come up with fuel to oil ratio of 96 to 1. This would be a tad bit too lean IMHO for an air cooled engine.
A ratio of 60 to 1 for a six gallon tank would require 12.8 oz of oil
50 to 1 would be 15.36 oz of oil
40 to 1 would be 19.2 oz of oil
32 to 1 would be 24 oz of oil.
The decision is yours. My son's Xlorer 400 runs at 60 to 1 and I had a Sportsman 400 that ran at 90 to 1.
Make it easy on yourself. Just pour in 16 ounces and run at 48 to 1. I don't think that will foul your plugs and your rings, pistons, and cylinder walls will love it.
