How many of you quad riders have a Polaris snowmobile? I am looking at an RMK600 or 700.

What do you think of the Polaris snowmobiles? Give me the good & bad & whatever else you can think off.

Polaris snowmobiles have a good track record for "reliability" when compared to others. I have researched other forums (snowmobile) & attended some local snowmobile club meetings.

Wow, I Honda guy considering a Polaris, who would have thought it!

thanks

Buying a Polaris maybe? Good to hear that! In all honesty though your choices for a Honda snowmobile are pretty limited

Ask ChickenMan, aka Cobb. He is "Mr. Polaris Snowmobile".

CM here
I have both 600rmk and 700rmk,they are 99's,they have been MTN sled of the year since coming out in 97.I also have a 98 600rmk that I have for company to ride.I can't really tell awhole lot of diff in them,99 brought the body change and some other small changes. The 600 is gutty machine will give the 700 run till top end.I have the 700 piped(twin)and some clutch work and reeds. It is mover and will do most everything that I have guts enough to do,I'm ordering new 800RMK with 151 inch track this fall, now try to figure that one, have all the machine I need and looking for more. You'll see more POLARIS than anything else on the trails, mine have been good performers and have been almost trouble free. The reeds I bought went bad not POLARIS.The twins have been reliable machines and have great low end torque,I love the steep and deep and it gets me there.Sorry just getting the snow fever and hard to shut up.I would suggest one thing there is a extra fuel tank that fits under the hood called "TOUR BUDDY"have them on both sleds was good investment.CM

ChickenMan--Have you ever taken Kagey for a little ATV/Snowmobile adventure? The Max 6x6 adventure does not count.

I think after the MAXX ride he just figured that there wasn't anything left that would out do it.Recall him saying something about once you've ridden the best why fool with the rest.He may have bought one and is to busy to spend time on the PUUUUTER,it would be the altimate ride you know just ask MAXX. Snowshark....Been riding ski-doo's for years, bought my first ATV a fews months ago and its a Polaris. The ski-doos I have had the past few years have NEVER failed, thats more than I can say for a buddy that has been riding Polaris. He has had internal engine problems on his past two machines. The same stuff happens with all brands, I just feel the fit, finish, suspensions and duribility of a ROTAX are second to none. These past few years in Snocross its been nothing but Artic Cat and ski-doo, Polaris has fallen way behind from their top spot they had just a few years ago. I'm sure you will be happy with either the RMK or the Summit, they're both fine machine and will give you years of trouble free miles, but if it was me and I lived in your state it would be the Summit 800. Good luck with whatever you buy.

My buddy that's a DIE HARD Cat man I think his blood is GREEN was in TOGGETY WYO with me on trip had new 700 ARTIC CAT with less than 500 miles on it.The engine locked up,after talking to mechanic at the dealer in town he knew of several the same thing something about oil pump.We rented wonderful reliable SKI-DOO Summitt670,drug it back 20 some miles that afternoon,it had droped something into piston and went south. The funny thing was that the mechanic knew exactly what had happened as they had several of them with same thing.Funny though the old POLARIS was the one to drag him back, and continues to run flawlessly today and will I'm sure this winter. As far as racing can't say any thing as don't keep up with it,but have been to JACKSON HOLE WYO.The national hill climbs,ARTIC cat, whips **** till the 600 class and then POLARIS takes over, guess who has the worse showing.YAMAHA and DOO they don't make up but very small percentage of sleds.Doo makes a very poor showing,we had what we called the DOO hole was way down the hill from where everyone else was getting to.last time was there Yamaha didn't even have a trailer. As I said POLARIS made MTN sled of the year for last 4 yrs,the 800RMK takes it again this year,POLARIS is #1 in snowmobiles for some reason.I've yet to have a DOO high mark me,and yes I have ridden with them.I do have to say they have good ride and get great mileage but I'll put tracks on the hill you can't reach!!They are just like Quads it's what ever trips your trigger but if you want be first in the hills you have to ride PURPLE.CM
