Hello 2004:

No it's not a good idea, pred has a cv carb on it. You'll lose hp and torque, and will have a real hard time on the jetting.
Look at raths and hpd settup with a stock carb, no clamp-on.

maddogg u are wrong because it is a good idea unless u dont know or have a dealer who knows how to do it. who cares what wrath has...the only good thins he has out is those big footpegs. by the way hpd sends a lot of their prototypes to doug to test them out and have him change what needs to be changed to make it better.

Because it sounded like you were trying to say, "everyone look at me....". If you actually had valid reason, then fine, I'll take it back.

Come on kids. Lets not argue w/ each other.

Anyhoo, Just get the Edelbrock w/ a K&N clamp-on. You'll be happy.

I'm fine jsyi. On the internet its sometimes hard to tell what people mean just by the words they type. I'm sometimes quick to shoot and slow to listen..... I appoligized to the fella. If he wants to accept it, fine. If not, no lost sleep here. Just as well as I'm sure that my initial opinion didn't do any irrevisible damage to him. He could probably care less what I think of him...

Now that everyone has gotten together for a big group hug and forgive kiss up session..............

I'll stir the pot up and say I'm darn happy with my CARB mounted K&N.......the gains over the stock air box are substantial by my calibrated sphintermeter. After you do the carb mod of cutting 3-4 coils off the slide return spring and drill open your slide vaccumm holes up to 7/64ths or 1/8", the throttle response is sharp quick and wicked fast when jetted right.

I'd like to try a snorkle mounted filter one of these days, but tuned properly, the carb mount K&N is much better than stock, and it works for me.

My first hand data comes from side to side comparisons between my 2 troy lee preddys, so thats the fast facts.
