In this mornings local paper(Louisville Courier Journal 8/10/00) there was this article. " A Minnesota co. is recalling about 13,600 atvs because the throttles can stick, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash.
Polaris industries Inc. of Minneapolis has received 26 reports of throttle problems and 17 reports of crashes in which 6 people were hurt, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said yesterday.
The recalled models include some of the 99 Scramblers,Sport and Explorer 400 ATVs, and some 2000 scrambler and Explorer 400 ATVs.
Polaris ATV dealers sold these ATVs nationwide from December 1998 through july 2000 for between $4,800 and $5,900."
I happen to own a 2000 400 Explorer and have experianced this problem 1st hand. I plan to take mine in right away. I thought others might appreciate knowing this was going on if they didn't already.
Have a good one.
Joe

Good post! Thats what these forums are all about, helping each other by giving out information.

Hopefully the dealer won't take long to fix your quad.

Yea I just heard on the news about this.

all the 1999 scrambler 400s and 2000 sport 400's and xplorer's I think because of the throttle sticking.
They said you can get a free tune up at the dealer you bought it from.
Also they said call 1-800-POLARIS for more information.
