aaen race pipe 400
#13
i kno this is just one example but i have a cpi pipe and the jug is ported to cpi specs, and i know someone with a hpd and ported by hpd and out run him. Not a good example since theres so many variables but o well. From what I heard the hpd and cpi perform about the same. Ive read some places that the cpi is better and other places that hpd is better. Its kind of like the beer commercial...Most polaris pipes run around the same, choose on looks.

The nice thing about the CPI guys is that they will actually tell you what the port specs should be. That, IMO is great customer service. Not only does that help the consumer, but also makes the bike run as it should and that looks good for them Smart business I think. Olav Aaen is also a great person, although I dont think he would give out that kind of info.Bubba

CPI told me that their out of frame pipe runs at 8200 RPMs. If you had the maching portwork and clutching, then it would have to make more power or else they wouldnt build them. Couldnt tell you how much, but it you got 2-3 more ponies then I would think that's doing good. With the race mod your at the point where every HP takes money to get in some shape or fashion. That's why weight matters more than anything.

"Wieght matters more than anything" I agree 100%. About 3 years ago I put a trail pipe on my 4x4 with a clutch kit, and was smokin my buddy with his stock 4x4. But when he took off the front diff, shafts, ect ... then he was rite behind me. --- hard to beleve what 30 to 40 lbs will do.
