Scrambler 5004X4 - Quad Shopping

Well, I'm at it again (Quad Shopping). I have been thinking about buying a new quad and am still torn between the models. Have a few general questions I'm hoping you can help me with.
I currently ride a 1987 Honda 250X and with the exception of a trans problem and a few rear Axle bearing/seal jobs it has been a great bike. Really takes the abuse. I'm not that aggressive as far as riding style goes. Spend most of my time riding in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in MI, and some wooded trails in MI, WI.
1) What would be considered a good deal on either a 2000/2001 SC5004X4 and where are some good dealers that actually know the products? (I'm from IL, and ride in MI,WI)
2) Anyone know major differences between 99/00/01 SC5004X4's?
3) How do they perform in Water/MUD (Belt Slip?)
4) How do they rate in speed compared to a 250X/300EX/400EX (All machines I'm pretty familar with)
5) Handling compared to the above.
6) Hill climbing
7) Maint/Reliability
Thanks in advance!
Jason
