Default 03 SP 700 Hard to Steer

I have noticed that my Sportsman 700 seems harder to steer than usual. I have also noticed that when I use the override button in reverse it is VERY hard to steer. I checked the fluid in my front pumpkin and it was low. I drained it and it seemed very thin. The quad has never been in deep water. I put Amsoil 75w-90 gear lube back in, still seemed hard to steer, even in 2-wheel drive.

Anyone else experience this problem??

I noticed for a long time that my 600 Sportsman seemed much harder to steer than my buddy's. One day I noticed the tire seemed low, checked the pressure, NONE. The other one looked fine. Checked that....NONE. Apparently the tires that came with it were run flats. The dealer had never checked the pressure. I'd been driving it with little to no air pressure in the front tires since I had purchased it..... Drives like a dream now!

Yes my tires were low also. I aired them up and it did seem to help, but the problem is still there. It almost feels like the from drive-line is in a constant bind.

This issue brings me to my next point. With these monster quads topping the scales at almost 800 pounds, isnt it about time for POWER STEERING??? Or at least power assist? Someone needs to step up to the plate!

Power steerying, wow I hadn't thought of that. That would be rather cool and very useful to have. I use my SP500 for pure utility and power steering would very cool indeed.

Once in awhile mine will have a hub stick, it mainly seems like after I've been backing up while it's cold. Once I've run for awhile doesn't seem to happen.

well chawness i dont think it was too good of an idea to put in 75-90 in your front end because it uses polaris premium hub fluid which is very thin oil but check your owners manual...and are you sure that you front end is'nt engaged in AWD??

I rode it 10 miles last night, seemed to be better since installing the Amsoil gear lube. I know the Amsoil is a lot thicker than what came out, the stuff Polaris had in there was about like water. I also have had the 75w-90 in the rear end for a while now and it took out all of the clanking noise it had made since new. I don’t think it is stuck in AWD, but I do think using the over-ride button in reverse is what’s causing the binding sensation.

75W90 gear lube is the wrong stuff in the 700 front diff. As Polarisman3 said you need the Polaris Preium Hub fluid or I think you can use Mobil 1 ATF. Be sure to fill and flush it a few times now to get all the 75W90 out.
