Default buyers regret?

I'm trying not to get buyers regret so in an attempt to reassure myself I'm going to ask a few questions. I just bought my first ever 4x4 atv. I bought a used 2004 polaris 600 sportsman with 9.3hrs and 43 total miles for $5300. Its a beautiful machine, but since I know very little. It seemed that every polaris sportsman in the area was selling as fast as listed so I paniced and bought it immediately not really knowing anything about the 600 cause I thought I would only be able to afford a 2001-2002 500 H.O. I learned how to drive it in the parking lot of the dealership and freaked myself out loading it up the ramp into my truck(scary larry). Anyways I was a little scared to find out that when I got how there is no back up pull rope start its just electric.......did I screw myself?

no, there are many ATVs out there now that ONLY have electric start. Once in a while, i have needed my rope starter, but thats been only ONCE, on either on of my Polaris'. The 600's are VERY good machines, and you will LOVE it! Welcome to the Forums!

The sp's are great machines. Although they do not have pull starts they are very reliable. The reason they do not have pull start is because with the bigger cc machines it is impossable to pull the recoil. It would pull your arm off. The compression is too much for a recoil start. Usually anything over 500cc's wont have it.

Use a battery tender if you let your new 600 sit for any length of time. The onboard computer will run the battery down even with the key off. You can diss-connect the battery also, but most quads, or any battery, has a tough time sitting for long periods with no attention. Dead batteries left for any time will not come back to life.

Enjoy your 600. They are great machines, just slightly less powerful than the 700s.

BTW the SP Twins have biggest stock battery in the ATV industry so it will be a while before you run that car-like battery down....

I talked myself into a motor with out a pull rope by telling myself, my truck dosen't have one and it's never needed it....(not that I could pull it if it did).....

How did I do on price? $5300 for 9.3hrs and 43miles on a 2004 polaris 600 sportsman? Its blue which I don't like but I just found out that I can get it vinyled with mossy oak or realtree hardwood for $100 so thats cool.

No matter what atv you purchased if a back up recoil starter is your only concern you really have no concerns at all!!

With the advancements in technology and how little amp draw a stock machine will have the battery should last a few years or more without any concern, and since we dont normally start our atvs several times a day like the family car etc the starter should not give you any trouble for a long time either.

Just go out and enjoy it and leave your worries for things like safety and how to get the time to ride.
