O.k. Barely, then maybe you wann talk about the oil plug that keeps popping out. Or maybe the inadequate battery. Bang for the buck, and durability wise, the YFZ, especially now that Yamaha has decided to continue to not stand behind their products, can't hold a candle to the Predator. Sure there were first year burps with the Pred, but look at how many times Polaris stepped up and covered things....even when they were out of warranty. Sooooo, what else did you want to talk about w/ the YFZ?

Scrambler 123,
I agree. I remember the Predator charts claiming it would outrun a Raptor. But the truth is they are very close. Some guys here rode the new 05 Predator, was it faster? Even on a short course 50HP is going to make itself known!
As far as slicks I hear knobbies don't dyno well.
Modquad, I agree also. Yamaha has rushed quads to the feild & are turning into the Polaris of the early 90's. I remember the beatings Polaris used to take when I first joined this board. My how things have changed.
Yamahas ad campaign is a joke, the quality control is horrible, design work is weak & customer support is pathetic. Lucky for them most of their quads seem to sell to kids wanting the latest "me too" quad. If their sports quads were bought by older adults (like Bombs & KFX700s) I think they would lose alot of customers.

Ken,
How quickly you forget Predator teething issues in 03. Frame's cracking, transmission's going ball joints going left and right. You want to compare that to an oil plug and low powered battery on a YFZ. I'll give you that Polaris did seem to stand behind there product with the Predator better than Yamaha did with the Raptor. I have seen 1 guy on here with a YFZ motor problem. With the number that have been sold and raced I am sure there are more as I am sure there have been quite a few motors gone on Predators too( There is one on Ebay with a blown rod right now).
Have you been to the races lately YFZ's as far as the eye can see and they do very well! Don't get me wrong I really like what Polaris has done. But Yamaha had some ***** to put out the 350 Lb. Racer that we have all been crying for since the TRX250R.
Polaris has a great quad out there with the new 05 Predator, But Yamaha and Honda also have pretty awesome quads of there own for that matter the LTZ400 is real nice too, They all seem to have first year issues and they all seem to try and fix them on the newer models. If you get a good reputable dealer they will usually stand behind what they sell! I have had my terribly made 2001 Raptor since Aug 2001 Original Tranny Original one way, only had 2 things go on mine Rear axle bearings that went while I was 30 Miles from camp and I had to ride it back like that and it took out my carrier and my clutch was replaced. Other than that nothing but routine maint. My brother on his mighty 01 DS on the other hand 3 fans, 2 chain rollers, 3 bent front shocks, 1 CDI, 1 Relay Switch and the motor is not running right now! So you never know.
The competition is tough. We are the lucky consumers!

My buddy is going threw that problem right now with the battery on the yfz . But i agree with one guy about how polaris says the preditor was so fast and yada, yada , yada. I have only ran into one pred that could beat me in a drag and i have raced dozens. But these races are on dirt not sand. I like to see test's done on the new pred.
