Our parts are distributed to us by RL Ryerson, so I am reffering to that particular company.

This forum is here to share info, and when I see people complain about something I try to offer my input, and give an explanation. Native Americans or not my point was that some of these distributor's don't pay they're employee's well.

And what the hell do farmers in Iowa have to do with any of this? So you know some Native Americans, wow, I am directly related to many, big deal.

I have no idea who packs our parts but every thing we order comes UPS second day air for the same price as ground. Out of all the major and short lines I have been around, in 36 years, Polaris gives the best service and fill rate of any company I have delt with. I don't care if thier black, brown, red, yellow or white they are they are doing a hell of a good job.
Oh ya every manufacture sets thier prices, what the dealer does from there is up to them. The closest dealer and us use straight dealer list with no mark ups. I give discounts to my own discretion.
I'll get off the soap box now, Thanks

My polaris dealer gives a 10 percent discount. Sometimes when I forget to ask for it. I dont get it on any maintenance, but on parts. or stuff I buy from them. Like helmets. The extended mud skirts I bought from them. A grease gun. i.e. stuff. rangerchet

The farmer comment was ment to say that they build polaris products, and that they somtimes get a bad rap, You know how some fix there equipment not all do but some rig there stuff up pretty bad. as for beieng related to the natives does that mean you get the casino check? Just joking.

Yesterday you said "..this is not what the forum is here for." And now you make a crack about Indians and casino money?

No, I do not receive any "casino checks", nor do the Native American relatives (via my wife's sister's husband)of mine.

When I bought my quad this early summer, I first went to the Polaris dealer near Sioux Falls, SD. The price for a 2000 sportsman 500 was $6,800.00 with a 10% discount on all accesories as long I owned the thing.
I then called a dealer in Minnesota and found the same model for $6,175.00. I was so impressed with the price difference, that I forgot to ask about accesory discounts.
Then I went to a John Deere dealer in Beresford, SD and with absolutely no hassle or bargaining, got the same model for $6,100.00 with a warn 2000# winch and rock bottom accesory prices.
Then, I called the first dealer to give him one more shot at it and he went off about how clean his shop was, blah blah blah...
So, what I'm saying is, try finding a source that doesn't rely on 4 wheeler sales and servicing for their income. When you're selling $150,000.00 green tractors, a $260.00 snow plow isn't crap. Get it?

Boy, who'da thought we could get such drama out of such a mundane post ?

Well, I went to the dealer today, got both front and rear racks for the scrambler, plus shockwears, front and rear. Told the owner I'd buy the stuff if he gave me a 10% discount. I didn't think that was much to ask. He agreed, somewhat begrudgingly, deal was done, I feel all warm and fuzzy. Two honest hard working guys helping each other out.

Then I stop by my Dads house, who is toying with the idea of buying an ATV. He shows me this RV ad book, and asks me about some prices he saw. I saw the same quad that I paid $5899 for 4 weeks ago, for 8 hundred bucks less, 1 hundred miles away !! $5099 !! Now it's time for a new rant.

Thanks for all the help, but now I kinda don't care so much about the measley little parts discount.

Dave

Don't leave the shop because of price hikes, that's how it is done everywhere. My freind owns a Honda dealership and everything there is marked up 30% - 40% from his cost, That covers his over head. But the real kicker is....I also have a relitive that works at the Honda factory and all parts are marked up 50% before the dealers get it!
Now granted, that's Honda but I can only imagine Polaris and everyone else is doing the same thing.
It's always bothered me to know that a $100 part really costs $20.
