Diesels by their very nature are always injected. The thing that limits the top speed is that they have rev limiters so you either need to bypass that or increase it's rev limit or up the gearing which I don't believe is very easy on a Polaris.

Having said that diesels do have plenty of torque so pulling away and acceleration from low speeds is very good.

1999 to 2002. Unfortunately the only one I could get was a 1999 version but it had only done 1440 miles when I got it so there should be plenty of life in it yet.

So this thing is fuel injected? Man, if someone had the desire and money to spend on R&D, they could probably make this machine SCREAM!!!

I think the trick is computer control of the air mixture, if it won't detect the extra o2 it'll run lean.

Diesels are very forgiving as far as mixture is concerned, too rich and they smoke a bit as you'll see when a large rig tackles a steep grade with a heavy load. This means that I can richen the mixture a bit with only a little smoke as the down side.

Yup, your right, I was thinking more about modern gas engines..... Actually, I don't know if you can run a diesel too lean -I think that would be "clean"

Only the diesel version!

I think that when they released the diesel back in 1999 there were so many people that said how slow they were that they never sold very well in the US. If you search on this forum for "diesel" you will find loads of old posts saying that they have a top speed of 30mph max, either the diesels they released in the US were more heavily restricted by their rev limiters than the ones they exported or a lot of people were making assumptions and guessing at the performance and then stating it as fact. Which ever way it was it certainly put a lot of poeple off buying them, it almost put me off until I had a test ride.

What size is that motor anyway? Hows the mileage on that thing so far?
