Default jackshaft??

CED would you mind sending me those pics to. Ive been pondering a 670Rotax Sled motor in a quad for a while now. Though not sure how to tie it to the frame. Solid motor plate? Others ideas help greatly..

PMed my e mail to you

So... if someone were to run a single shaft jackshaft setup, How do you achive the proper gear ratio. The books says the tranny foward gear is 2.85 and the 14 & 34 drive sprokets gets you like 2.43.
So, where does a person come up with 10 & 73?
Im drawin a blank- maybe one too many Miller lites lastnite.

i would also like to run a single shaft set-up to make it lighter weight. the only problem is how much higher the input shaft is then where the sprocket is mounted, I was thinking about putting a chain tensioner on the top and the bottom of the swingarm to make enough clearance for the higher sprocket location, it would probably require a chain with more links as well.

Whitedog, think of the tranny by itself. CED said (funny huh?) that the tranny had roughly a 2.6 ratio, so he used a 10-26 gear. You have to add the gear ratio of the tranny with the gear ratio of the rear gears and you come up with a total figure. What that would mean is that you would have to run a huge rear sprocket to compensate for the loss of ratio through the transmission unless you have a dual jackshaft. The one thing you dont want to do is make it so talled geared it wont move out quick. It didnt make sense to me the first time I saw a quad with a snomo motor in it and it had a huge rear sprocket. I thought at that time the tranny was a 1-1 ratio and was only there for nuetral and reverse.

what size sprockets would you have to use to keep the gear ratio close to stock with a single shaft set-up?

Ive read 10-70 or 72. But it seems kinda low. If you have a 2.6 tranny ratio then you wud need 11-56 to achive the 5.02 final ratio.
2.6 plus (14-34) 2.42
My trans is a newer 4x4 trany. Even gutted this thing still weighs 20lbs!
Plus its concentric drive wich wud make it even harder 2 do a dual shaft setup (imho). Im like you 123. I wanna go with the single setup. Im not doing anything but flat dirt draging. and I only got about 2.5 inches or rear travel.
Im I close here with these figures??
The 4x4 tran has 2.8 ratio, no wonder this things so dam slow!

the only problem is I still want to have full travel so i might run in to problems with chain angles.
