Raising the clip will lean it out in the low to the mid range. raising the clip lowers your needle. What does it sound like when you are going full throttle? IF it sputters then you are too rich.

Well if it looks fine at the midrange then you might check the compression or the clutching. Mine did something similar to that and found out that the primary was binding. Had to get a new one.

They both are good machines, just depends on what you want. The EX is smaller and easier to throw around (350 compared to 480). It wheelies easy and jumps good, it also has the driveshaft instead of chain. They are pretty close in the speed department, we have drag raced them. They both are good hillclimbers but the TB does it easier. I weigh a little over 210 lbs and either one will haul me up and down some pretty good hills. The TB has better suspension and rides much better, the auto is nice in general but not as good if you want to wheelie or for taking off on jumps. Both machines are reliable, the only thing we ever had to do on the TB was chain and sprockets, the Honda needed a new coil once. The TB is a little cheaper and has better stock tires. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either one.
