I have a Polaris 500 1977 model. The speed has seemed to drop. When you run it wide open between 30 and 35 it will surge like it has a governor. It has never done this. I have the Carb check out and put on a new fuel filter but with no luck. What is making it run like this?

 

If you are in a clean area I would pull off your air filter and see what kind of differance that makes. That will tell you if your air filter needs replaced. Try a new spark plug. Just a couple easy things to check.

 

I did this and it helped. I also added SEA Faom engine cleaner and it is back to the way it ran before. Thanks

 

could you post some pics of your quad i would love to see a 77 polaris its almost as old as me...
