Default Replacement Scrambler Rims

I am getting some conflicting info as to the size and offset of the STOCK wheels on my Scrambler 500 4X4.

ITP says:

Front: 10X5 3LB+2 4/156 PART NO: T154152
Rear: 10X8 3+5 4/4 PART NO: H184400

And it doesn't look like I can get all four in the T-9 Pro Series. Only the fronts come in the Pro Series, and the rears are just the T-9's. So they won't match.

I e-mailed Douglas and they mailed this back to me.

"'95-'04 POLARIS SCRAMBLER 500

FRONT: 10X6 4B+2N 4/156 PART NO.: 014-19 [.190] = $66.78EA
REAR: 10X8 3B+5N 4/4 PART NO.: 005-07 [.190] = $69.00EA

*YES THE STOCK LUG NUTS WORK WITH OUR WHEELS."

Which wheels can I get that will be EXACTLY the same dimensions as the stock wheels. I don't want them to stick out any further than the originals. Also, will the original lug nuts and valve stems work.

The rears are right, but Douglas has the fronts wrong. The ones from ITP that you have listed are correct for the STOCK wheel. And you are correct. You can only get the T-9 Pros for the front. It doesnt look too bad though. That is what I have, the T-9 Pros on the front and the T-9's on the rear. You can see them in my pics. The stock lugnuts worked on mine. You have to turn the rear lugs nuts around though. I also used stainless washers to prevent gouging the rim. And I put some blue locktite on the front lugs because the rim was a little thicker. But, you do need to get new valve stems. They are not that expensive. My chrome ones wer $1 each. If you do decide to go with the ITP's, shoot me a PM. I can set you up with a guy that will give you a great deal. I paid $200 for all 4 wheels plus the 4 chrome valve stems SHIPPED!

Does anyone else have experience with putting aftermarket rims on their Scramblers? I am most concerned about getting rims that are the exact dimensions and offset as the originals. Also, what kind of valve stems do I need to get?

The wheels that you have listed for the ITP's is the same as stock. 10x5 front with 3+2 offset and 4/156 bolt pattern and 10x8 rear with 3+5 offset and 4/4 bolt pattern. And all you need is standard valve stems

Now I don't know what to think. I talked to ITP yesterday, and they told me that the rims for a Scrambler would have a wider offset than the stock wheels. Has anyone else noticed this to be true with their wheels? Where could I found out for sure the stock offset V.S. ITP's?

You know what, you are correct. I was reading that wrong. The STOCK wheels have a 2+3 offset. If you go with the 3+2 offset that you have listed for the ITP wheels then they will stick out 1" further than stock. My T-9 Pros are a 2+3 offset (same as stock). Sorry for the confusion

That's wierd. I was under the impression that wheels with a 2+3 offset would have 2" on the inside and 3" on the outside. So wouldn't they be set out 1" further when compared to a stock wheel?

Also, as for the size. Polais told me today that the stock rims measure:

"Front: 148mm wide with 55mm offset to the outside
Rear: 216mm wide with 140mm offset to the outside"

To me this sounds like they would be more like 10X6 up front and 10X9 in back, rather than 10X5 and 10X8 like ITP says. Am I missing someting about how they are measured?

They are 10x5 for the front. I am possitive on that. For the offset, ex. 2+3 offset. The first number (2) is the measurement from the center of the rim where it attached to the hub to the outside edge. The second number (3) is the measurement from the center of the rim to the inside edge. 2+3 would be stock on the scrammys 10x5 rim. A 3+2 would still be a 10x5 rim, but it would stick out 1" further than stock.

I copied this right off Douglas Wheel's web site. It is just an example wheel size to explain each part of the size. According to this it looks like it is the other way around. The first number is the inside offset, and the second is the outside offset. Or am I just reading something wrong?

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. The first 8 refers to the wheel diameter, measured from the tire bead seat.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. The second 8 refers to the wheel width, measured from the inside bead to the inside bead.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. The 3B refers to the width of the inside half of the wheel, in this case a BELL shape.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. The 5N refers to the width of the outside half of the wheel, in this case in a nose shape.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. This 4/110 refers to the bolt pattern. It has 4 bolt holes, equally spread around a 110-millimeter diameter circle.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. This .125 refers to the thickness of the material used in the wheels, in this case .125 inch thick.

8x8 3B+5N 4/110.125 10MM. This 10MM refers to the size of the bolt hole, in this case 10 millimeters.
