Carb/Fuel Injector Cleaner?
#4
This may not be the best way to clean a gummed up carb, but I have done it many times and it seems to work with no side effects.
Buy some yamaha carb cleaner and one of those funnel lids like what comes on the front hub lube bottles. Put the cleaner full strength into the fuel line going to the carb, after draining the carb. Let the cleaner sit in there for several hours the drain and let the gas stay on to flush the cleaner out.
Oh, after you fill the carb with cleaner and have the drain off, turn on the fuel and try to crank the bike. It won't run, but it will get the cleaner all the way into the jets.
Anyway, this is a quick and easy way to clean carbs without having to disassmble. I know that some people say it will swell the rubber gaskets, but this has never occurred on one of my bikes.
