Default Throttle Problem. Need Help

well, i was out riding the scram, and all of a sudden my throttle started to have alot of resistence, and i could only push it in 1/2 way, and i couldnt give it any more than 1/2 throttle. I brought it back home, and sprayed some WD-40 into the cable, and worked it some, and then it seemed to be alright, i could give it full throttle, but there seemed to still be alot of resistence. Than i rode it around and it started doing the 1/2 throttle thing again.

I would take the cable off and lube it, but i noticed it splits half way down, and controls the oil pump too. What should i do? Is my cable worn out? Thanks

I know on some models the cable is routed wrong and it rubs against the frame and wears down the cable. That could be your problem or maybe your cable is adjusted incorrectly.

Default Throttle Problem. Need Help

i had the same problem on my trail boss 250 last summer. turned out it was the cable was fraying inside the throttle housing, right where it goes into the cable sleeve. had the replace the cable. i think it was 60 buck which is rediculous!! but i had to have it.

good thing is it comes with the cable split for the oil pump.

Where your cables split into the oil pump and carb controls there is a rectangular plastic junction with a slide inside. Drill a small hole in the middle of that rectangular plastic piece just big enough for one of those plastic spray straws that come with a can of lube like WD-40. Stick the straw in there and squirt some in and work your cable up and down. This will lube that slide. Then take a drop of silicone and seal the hole. I do mine about once a year and it helps alot.
