why do we have to change oil every 10 hrs. i n our preds when most outher bikes are around 100 hrs? it seems a bit eccesive to. i do change it every 10 and the oil always looks brand new. in a car you can go 25,000 miles on the same type of oil! its one of those things that make me go ummmmm!

Remember that your clutch is also lubricated by the same oil . Clutches toss a lot of junk into the oil as they wear. Change the oil and be happy it looks clean .

Amsoil claims a 25,000mi/1 year oil change interval with a filter change every 6 months. I dont think I would go that long though

and on diesels you can go alot higer than that. and i know a few people thathae 200,000miles on there truck with amsoil changing oil every 25,000 miles and are still running strong. even just 3,000 miles is 2,900 more miles than what we have to chnage!

You change your oil that often, like Rick said, because your gearbox and engine are all in the same oil compartment......You want to change it, to get any gear/clutch fines out, that might accidentally get in there. I would also say, not for sure though, that the synthetics will probably break down quicker than other oil too. It is a performance quad, be prepared to work on it. If you can afford a 6k quad, what is 20 bucks for taking good care of it. Take good care of it, and it will take good care of you.

Amsoil does do filter changes every so many miles and then its time to change the oil. I'm a sceptic when it comes to their practices, although I know a guy that distributes their oils and accessories and he swears by it. I run an Amsoil oiled filter in my Powerstroke, seems to do better than the K&N I had in there. I just clean it when it gets dirty and reoil.

Guess on the Predator you need stock in oil since you have to change it every 10 hours. But if it keeps things ticking and is recommended, then do it...

even on a trans in a vehicle you only have to change a manuel atf avery 50,000 miles. i dont mine spending the money or changing the oil im just woundering why the pred has to be changed so much more often than outher quads!
