Just to let your brother know, if he really want to ride hard, he better get his frame gusseted. I have gone through 3 frames in less than one year. One cracked under warranty, one I rolled off a 12 foot burm - no doubt that cracked, and the last one was last weekend in an MX race. The carb and air intake system just fell off on a double - the bottom frame was cracked completely into on each side.
All three breaks were at different places on the frames - just be careful -
Preds can't take the hard jumps and ground. Their great for sand and trail riding unless you get it gusseted or have an after market frame.
my bike is custom rebuilt and suspension set by a pro suspension guy -- And I'm still having trouble with the frames

I was thinking about getting one or two, or making myself a set, but I didn't know if anyone had tried them yet or not.

If you use engine ice you do not have to mix it with anything, it is premixed. The inline coolers do help.
As for slip ons I have had the white bros e series, it is a very good system, I have changed mine to a curtis sparks and like it better.
Air intakes, I have used a k&n drop in filter with 5 one inch vents, a set up similar to the rath racing one, and a filter clamped on to the carb. I like the filter clamped on the carb best.

I haven't done the airbox mods yet, I will be doing the intake/exhaust all at once. Rath and Nichols are the best two places to go. Rath build's their own headpipe to go with the WB e series. And nichols further updates it and the carb. 13 tooth is too much gear reduction and almost eliminates 1st. 38 or 39 rear works great and you will climb any hill out there. I gotta agree with the sand stars, great turning with really good straightline bite. Stay away from the water pools though, the soft quicksand will stop you really quick, broke my collar bone last week, it hit the bars and bend the stearing stem, but the frame is still straight. Call Rath with any questions, his wife typically answers and helps you with different setups, he races the pred both mx and tt.

Depends on the type of riding you do in the dunes. Do you want to hook up, or are you wanting a huge roosts? I have an 03 predator and I use GPC Sand Sharks and I hook up like none other. A budy of mine likes to roost so he uses Maxxis Rooster Straight Blade they still hook up but not as well as a V bladed sand tire
