The clip will be at the top of the needle,in the top of the slide. You will have to take the cable off at the carb.Moving the clip up will will lower the needle, thus cutting out some of the fuel. And lowering the clip ,will raise the needle, which will give it more fuel in the mid range.Hope this helps.

The "clip" is on the "needle" that sticks out of the bottom of the "slide".
"Raising" the clip "drops" the needle, leaning out the idle and off-idle. Dropping the clip conversely raises the needle and makes the mixture a bit richer.
The "E-Clip" is what you adjust to control "throttle response". It's a "fine-tuning" mechanism for the main jet.

Most carbs have 3 screws on the top cover. Remove these screws and then you will see a rubber diaphram and slide. Pull these up and out and the needle will be sticking out the bottom. The needle can be removed by different means, depending on whose carb you have. The needle has slots in the top the the 'clip' can be moved. You can also get a small washer and move 1/2 positions, most carb kits such as K&N come with the spacer.
The needle goes down and through the main jet. As you give more throttle, the suction moves the slide and needle up, allowing for more gas.

just to let you all know on the pred you nee to remove the top brass colored cap (3 scews) remove the rubber insert get some needle nose and pull out the white plastic piece inside. remove the washers and the clip is right there. i moved mine down 1 and it did made a good diffrence in the mid range. i also changed the 42.5 middle jet w/ a 57.
