Default 04 500 spark plug/carburator problem?

About a month ago my 500 started acting up. I bought it in February. It was constantly runnning like it was full choked but the choke isn't on. It has fouled 3 plugs in the past month. And the last one fouled within about 5 minutes of riding. I dont know if this is a coil problem or a carburator problem. I think it might be running too rich. The plugs come out black as coal. If anybody has any ideas or commnets on what to do it would be greatly appreciated. I really dont' want to take it to a dealer and spend 200 bucks for nothing.
THanks!

Default 04 500 spark plug/carburator problem?

Just a few days ago I read a post of a guy with a new 500 and 400, ( husband and wife's quads) that both developed running problems, and then went dead.Turned out to be a bad spark plug wire, he said he was able to remove it from the coil ( some just thread out, check yours ) and replaced it with some automotive spark plug wire, and it ran like new. It is possible you have a bad connection, and weak spark is letting your plugs foul.
