Default 99 Scrambler 500 4x4 rev overrdide disconnect

I can't remember what I need to do to disconnect the reverse override button. I am sick of pushing this button when I need to go into reverse. I know this has been posted before, but I can't seem to find it. My ATV is a 99 Scrambler 500 4x4. Thanks for the input in advance.

Also, if I disconnect the override, will my 4 wheel drive work and reverse light work?

To disconnect the override button, open up the front nose piece. There you will find a rectangle rubber female spade connector. There is 2 of them. The one you want is the one with the grey wire with an orange stripe. Unplug that wire from the connector (REVERSE OVERRIDE IS NOW GONE)

Now to get it so the 4x4 works is a little more difficult but it is easy. Look at your reverse override button. The wires you want are the grey wire with a white stripe and a red wire with a white stripe. See where they come down in the nose piece. Take a little bit of the insulation off of each one. Now take a wire and splice it between both wires. Solder them in and tape them up good. Now have 4x4 and no revlimiter when in reverse without having to push in the button. And your reverse light and the AWD still work like normal too

Easier to unplug the black wire from the box.You will only need to use the button for 4x4 in reverse.

Not trying to argue here because I was going to do the same myself. That was until a ride I took about three weeks ago changed my mind. Me and my buddies stopped for a minute at the beach to mess around with the kids. My buddy took off giving me the see if youy can catch me sign. I hop on my quad start it up and nail the throttle. I ended up half way up the gas tank, leaning over the bars. Had it not been for the override I'd have been flat on my back in front of my quad. I had forgotten I backed up a couple of feet to say something to one of my buddies before I shut it off. Now the override stays on my quad. Just my couple of pennies.
