Default 04 Trailblazer Chain Tensioner Problems

I just got HSP chain tensioner for my wifes trailblazer, and i'm having trouble installing it. It seems like no matter where i place it on the swingarm the chain hits the grease fitting or rubs the underside of the swingarm back near the tranny case. Where should i place it on the swingarm? Up high or low, more toward the front or the rear? Has anybody got any experience with this problem? If so I would really appreciate any help, thanx.

Default 04 Trailblazer Chain Tensioner Problems

It has been a long time since I put one on mine(mine was also a nonconcentric model).....but I think I had to remove the metal chain gaurd bracket(torch it off), and then I mounted mine on the swing arm, up towards the frame.....I think(seems like I had the same problem you did), but is there a way to turn the tensioner around(unbolt it or something) so the fitting is facing inwards(it should face in)......

It's an 04 TB so it's a concentric drive, and the instructions with the tensioner say that it should be mounted on the outside of the swingarm just behind the swingarm crossmember. Keep running into the same problem with the grease fitting.

Which way is the fitting facing??? Is it facing inwards(towards the shock, once put on)?? You do know the chain goes above the tensioner, which is also above the fitting.....

Don't know what to tell ya, wait for someone like BBS to help ya I guess......

Had the same problem with one from HPD. So I just moved it farther up the
swingarm. The chain should be about center on the tension wheel.

with the chain centered on the roller the grease fitting will rub,i had the same problem with my hpd unit.my directions also said to mount it behind the cross member.i ended up sliding it up the swingarm a little.if i recall,i slide it up untill one of the bolts was in the center of the cross member..

If it is rubbing on the swingarm, then your chain is too loose. I had that problem myslef. The chain made a nice groove in my swingarm up by the tranny case.

Hey I really appreciate the input guys, I think I've got it worked out now, I had to move it more towards the front of the bike, and tighten the chain a little, seems like it's missing the grease fitting and the chain isn't rubbing the bottom of the swingarm. Thanks a lot, you all have saved me a lot of frustration. Donavon
