Default Problem with 39PWK any suggestions?

I just got my Bubba trail port back together and I'm very happy with the power increase. I went on a long trail ride that I have done before, but this time I had to put it on reserve just before I got back to my truck. I was looking at the carb and it was oily on the bottom so I pulled it off and put it on my carb stand to look for a leak (the 'carb stand' is hanging the carb from my recycle bin by a coat hanger and feeding it fuel from a Desani bottle that has the bottom off). It was seaping from the bowl gasket but when I wiggled the carb just a little, fuel ran out of the bottom bowl vent. Since these engines tend to vibrate I bet I lost alot of fuel from this vent, anyone had this happen? So of course I pulled the bowl off and checked the float level, it seamed ok so I just lowered it little by little until it didnt leak ( wasnt alot). Did I miss something? What do you think?

Eugene, the float is the only thing that comes to mind right off. The other thing you can check is to see if a reed spacer will help make the carb stand more straight up. I bet the float adjustment will about cure it all.

My 39 that I got from HPD pretty much poured out fuel from the bowl vent right out of the box. I had to adjust it alot to keep fuel from coming out. It still leaks but I don't want to get it too low or then I'll have a different problem.

Ohhhhhh Shoot! I just remembered. I took a large zip tie and went around the top of the carb to the little bridged piece on the back of the cylinder where the motor mount is. That seemed to keep the vibration down and helped things out some. I actually broke 2 of the needle clips when I was race modded because of vibration.

Me too Bubba. I had to do the same thing.

I have the same trouble, when its idleing fuel runs out like crazy. I was told "nature of the beast." I did find that if you tweek the floats to stop it, your WAY too lean

I'll try the 'anti-vibration' trick, and yeah I was worried about changing the jetting by lowering the float. I guess I'll have to find a happy medium.
